Back to Basic – Step 1
In order to start a website for my own, I have been struggling for a while before I really decided to get a paid hosting services. I do feel that this is really a correct move where I start to feel I am building something. It is not compulsory for you to do web publishing on free service provider like WordPress, Blogger and many others, but if you do have your own hosting you will definitely have a different feel.
I am using BlueHost.com. Seriously I hope you choose the same hosting company too because I am affiliating to it. The hosting come with various free and automated features that ease your setup of the website. I took only half and hour to get my http://www.erchongyee.com/ up and running.
Among some features that available for setting up your website. You can even use WordPress.org, which can be automatically setup with a few steps like I did. You don’t even have to know about uploading files while using the free installation scripts available. Of course, you are encouraged to learn it later for advancement of your lovely website, but the scripts provided are sufficient for you now.
Once you go in to http://www.bluehost.com/, just follow the step by step guides and you will be enjoying the services like me.
Please allow me to do some advertising in order to support the creation of this website.
Comments welcomed. And if you have questions about the hosting services, you may want to reach me at erchongyee@hotmail.com; can be MSN as well.

Let Your Reader Share Your Articles with Their Friends Easier
Do you notice this on my posts?
This is a great tool that ease the reader share, or print the article more conveniently.
In order to get this on the website, you need to get the social bookmarking or sharing proxy services. For me I use http://www.addthis.com/. Well, it comes no reason but just happen that i found this service first at the place and it is so far fine to use. I know there are a lot more but will only do research on them later. I suspect there isn’t much different in terms of services, just depends on which one you like it more.
You don’t have to register in order to use this service. The benefit of being registered is you have a track record of what is the trend of your website and information being shared.
You need only set 3 options to generate the code for your website. As mentioned, the 3 options is optional but is good if you register and have your website sharing and bookmarking kept track for future reference.
If you want just be simple and explore more complex stuff later, just click on the big, red button to the next page where you have the code to plug in to your website.
If you want to have more customization, you have to go the “More options>”. In case you don’t notice it:
After you have click into the more options, you will see a more complex setup of your social bookmarking and sharing buttons or toolbox. Remember that buttons or toolbox is servicing the same purpose. You can choose either one that suite to the design of your website.
Please notice that the Toolbox is currently in Beta. And AddThis do have a note on the corner there.
They actually explain “What’s this?” when you point your mouse pointer there. Have a look on it.
Here you go. Choose the options and get the code to plug into your website. And you are one step further to encourage your visitors to share your articles and eventually, improve traffic to your website.
Good luck web publishing. All comments are welcome.
Category of the Blogs
Trying to understand how WordPress really manage the website. Well, now working on categorizing the posts.
As can be seen on the screen:
By default, all posts will be uncategorized. In order to organized multiple posts in a more systematic manner, better to have some categorization on it. As what I plan to do, I will try do some posting on Money Tips. Therefore I created a category so called Money Tips.
Steps are:
1. Click on “Posts”, then “Categories” on the side bar.
2. Fill in Category Name.
3. Fill in Slug; as explained, it is for the web engine to manage the folders therefore the name supposed to be short and consist no illegal characters otherwise the web engine might have error.
4. Select Category Parent if the newly created category is a sub category of something.
5. Write some simple description for the category so that you stick to the objective when you write your blogs and decide the category which the article supposed to belongs to.
6. There is a button “Add Category” at the bottom there, just click on it and you are done.
