1Malaysian government is making it’s debut to ‘RATIONALIZE’ subsidy on a few daily necessities.

All together it’s about price hike for sugar, petrol (RON 95 and 97), diesel and natural gas.

Ok, we had made known that we need to rationalize the subsidy system so that government have more money to spend on core development projects like for education, health care, infrastructure and so on.

I strongly agree that in an advanced economy, we should just let what ever goods in the market to be priced according to the market in nature.

However, I do believe that we have a lot more issues to be RATIONALIZED, from a situation somewhat ridiculous. Just name a few:

1. PKFZ project had wasted billions of ringgit and now what? Nobody is responsible for that. People who had been approving the spending with fishy arrangement are happy all the day. Did we got any RATIONAL explanation about the whole case? NO!!!!

2. The purchasing of Royal NAVY’s submarine. Some how we heard that whole deal involved murder of a poor lady, technical issue with the sub received, payment of a big amount to Perimekar S/B don’t know for wat, some more France government is investigating the manufacturer for flaws in the whole deal. What? Do we have a somewhat RATIONAL explanation? NO!!!!!

3. The book "Malaysian Maverick", had raised discussion about our ex-PM who led Malaysia for 23 years. Some part of the book pointed out that he had burned more than 100 billion ringgit in a few finance scandals. The government strongly believe that Dr M is innocent but take no action against the writer who could be charged for defamation. Anyway nobody have a RATIONAL explanation either, for whether the book is telling the truth or Dr M were always clean and clear. NO!!!!

4. While we had just been told to tighten our belt, we still got to pay for a 800 million palace. The project was started with budget of 400 million but inflated to a bill of 800 million. Who did explain to us why it was so badly budget overran? Why we need to spend so much? NO!!!!

5. Recent years we had our government servant doubled. Meaning, we need to spend double the money to pay for their salary. Why we need so many people in the government departments? Our population is not doubling up. Who the hell those excess government force servicing? Anybody can explain to us in a RATIONAL way? NO!!!!

Nobody had RATIONALLY telling us what is happening in the country. Government just pretend to be nice to people but the fact is, nobody really care what kind of life we are living.

If things got to be RATIONALIZED, the very first to be taken care of is the government who managing the country now. That’s the most ridiculous thing that need to be corrected at the current moment, URGENTLY.

Penny Auctions… some new concept found getting very popular on the Internet since some 1 or 2 years ago.

Concept: you need to buy credits with certain amount, then only eligible to bid. It is so called ‘Penny Auction’ because the item that on auction, starting with very low price, for example 1 cent. Every bid will increase the bid price by 1 cent as well.

Some typical operators, sell to you 1 bid for 1 buck, more or less. Sometimes they give you promotion price when you buy big chunk.

So let’s start bidding. For example a electronic gadget, worth 500 dollar. Starting with 1 cent.

Here comes the bidder. One after another bid for the product. The final bid price are always looking so attractive because with 1 cent increment, how much can it be? Even after the bid price increased 100 times, the final price is just 1 dollar.

That’s the main attraction why people are joining the bidding. Of course, some may just look at it a fun game and to try their luck.

However, let say the final bid price for the product is 20 dollar. That means, all the bidders that join the bidding process already exhausted 1999 credits in total. That can be translated to 1999 dollar all together.

Ok, the person who win the bid can get the gadget with 20 dollar paid to the company. Of course, maybe he has just used 100 credits to win the auction, with some luck and intelligent. His cost of owning the gadget is 120 dollar.

The rest of participant that lose the game, gets nothing. Their total lost is 1899 dollar.

Where the money goes? You see in the whole game, the company take 2119 dollar, and pay out 500 dollar for the gadget to give to the winner. They get net profit of 1619 dollar. Wow… what a good profit.

Is this considered gambling? Exchange small money with big gain without any guarantee of return?

I am amazed with TMnet’s improvement, in terms of the service desk.

Of course, the slowness and instable connectivity is out of discussion here. The problem is rely on the infrastructure not the helpdesk.

What I keen to express my gratitude here is, the help desk are really friendly and follow things up.

After I logged the call, they have constantly give me calls to get updates on how the situation been.

Of course, I have to keep on repeating that the service was still in bad shape because the technician slow in doing things and when they work on the problem they don’t know what to do correctly.

1. They switch my port from 1 Mbps to 512 Kbps. I have to call back to get the thing re-done.

2. Don’t know what was the reason, after they technician done some ‘repair’, the phone in high noise level and of course, not usable.

I had to liaise with technician many rounds to get the things done right. Now the Internet back to normal, meaning in “OK lah” status.

The helpdesk is the one that make me feel they are really serious about satisfying customers. They call with friendly tone and sincerely concern about the situation. Seems everyone of them are well trained because they are uniformly patient and talk in nice way. I think I will feel bad if I lost my temper to them.

So, comment to TMnet is, you have go the A class helpdesk/customer service team. What need to be improved is the engineering and technical support fellows. Make them skillful enough to do what they suppose to do. Most important thing, get rid of the ‘tidak apa’ attitude.

Remember there was classic advertisement – the ‘Potong’ series?

Now we have another big discussion about cutting things. This time around, they want to cut the subsidy.

Well, cutting subsidy is good move to normalize the country economy. It helps government to have better cash flow to be allocated to more needy areas like infrastructure, education, medical services, public transportation etc.

If the implementation of subsidy demolishment is done with proper consideration of how to reduce expected impact to people as a whole, then I strongly agree that we should do it.

However, now we are at the level where our salary can’t afford the typical living cost. That’s why subsidy is so important for us. What is the strategy to overcome the situation? We don’t have any solid strategy yet on the table. We have only a slogan-type vision of increasing our income per capita to certain amount by certain number of years.

So, why talk about subsidy now? Obviously government is looking for ways to reduce expenses. We have to because we don’t have the money to spend. You might question, we are all hardworking people. Our nation is having good natural resources. What we plant, it just grow. We have oil. We have timber. We have a lot of thing people around the world keen to buy. Why we still feel we are ‘poor’?

Let me show you why. Please read the article below:
