1000 Council-Owned Vehicles??
Every year, when the time comes to nearly end of August, we would start to question whether it is true that flying national flag named Jalur Gemilang shows that we are patriotic? Logically speaking there should be no direct connection between the action of flying flags and the attitude of loving the country. However, our leaders still in very high extends, believe that “flying the flags would help boost the people’s morale and love for the country, thus inspiring them to work harder and contribute more to the nation.”. However, what is intended to be highlighted and discussed here is not about flying flags. The question is, Ipoh city council alone owns about 1,000 vehicles, and it is about 780 of them are “officials’ cars”. How many officer is working under the city council and how many cars are they really needed to run the operation? Of course I am not sure whether this number is logical for a city size like Ipoh. From Wikipedia Ipoh have 1.1 million of population and if we do some simple math it is around 1:1500 official car to people ratio. Could anyone that able to explain what is the purpose of the cars that been purchased with people’s hard earned money? We don’t have revealed information for the rest of the city in the country. But earlier on, I have another post that showed police force, for just one community police station, having more than 15 patrol cars. Click here. Questions: 1. Are we over consuming? 2. The forecast did mentioned that the budget for the next year will still be high in deficit. Is that a time to review and understand whether the government is currently overspending?

H1N1 – Fortune for Certain People
It was a sad news yesterday which 8 person died due to H1N1 outbreak, and today, 7 more. It does indicate that most likely the influenza had start to spread fast. However, this could be good news for certain people running certain business. This is about economy, please bear with it. It is real that the no matter what situation it is, there are people who is at the winning edge.
Do not believe? Look at this news:
From corridor chat, we also know that there are people who making a good fortune selling surgical masks. A colleague of mine who have children in one of the school having suspected H1N1 case and therefore the school administration encourage the kids to wear mask in the school. He told us that he bought the mask for RM 7.50 per piece, which normal price is only 1 – 2 Ringgits. What a good profit.
Jokingly, or some what seriously if we have a good supply of mask, we could just get a wind fall during this very period. May I know who can supply to me? (Haha…)
In a nutshell, we do not have to always look things from the negative side. No matter how bad the situation is, there is a way out of it. Wish that everybody is in good health and we see the future with a better view.
